GENOMICS/PROTEOMICS FIELD APPLICATIONS SCIENTIST Holliston, Massachusetts, USA
POSITION SUMMARY This position is part of our Technical Support/Applications team and is based in our Holliston, MA location, responsible for providing post installation customer training as well as technical/ applications support at our customer sites. This person will prepare for and participate in the demonstration of genomics and proteomics equipment and software both at a customer site and on-site in our demo laboratory. This position will require 50 - 75% overnight travel. This person will also assist in the generation of technical notes, application notes and other publications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work as part of the Genomics/Proteomics Application Team
Respond to customer inquiries via telephone and e-mail, and either resolve their issues personally, or forward them to the appropriate person
Maintain a record of such interactions for follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction
Ensure that demonstration lab instrumentation is fully operational and optimized
Work with Field Applications team to generate applications and tech notes
Prepare lab for customer demos and work directly with customers during demo process
Be comfortable operating and training customers on a variety of genomics and proteomics instruments, including those used for 2D gel electrophoresis, spot excision, preparation of samples for mass spec analysis, DNA Shearing, bacterial cell culture, microarray spotting, hybridization and analysis
Prepare for and participate in in-house courses
Conduct research to evaluate current products, troubleshoot existing field issues as well as assist in the development of new products
Recommend measures to improve testing procedures and use of equipment
Travel requirement: minimum 50%
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or PhD in life sciences field
4 years relevant experience in the Life Sciences
Critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and timelines
Programming skills desirable
